  The IPWEA/RTA Local Government Road Safety Strategy works to raise the priority of road safety in Local Government. This is achieved through support for council road safety strategic planning, the administration of funding for local road safety initiatives and through the presentation of annual Local Government Excellence in Road Safety Awards, to recognise outstanding council achievements.   The IPWEA Medal is a Municipal Engineering Foundation Award, that is awarded to the highest achiever in the Civil Engineering Bachelor's Degree at the University of Technology, Sydney. The winner of this award must also be employed by a local government authority at the time of graduation.

  Last year, the IPWEA (NSW Division) Environmental Management Panel surveyed all NSW Councils to determine how State of the Environment reports are being used and what level of involvement engineers have in the process. The survey was also designed to elicit Council's attitude towards SOE reporting. The analysis of this survey is now complete and the final report can be downloaded in pdf format.
